Watch: Maryland needs seven tries to recover bizarre fumble
In general, you’re taught to fall on a fumble as a football player. The Maryland Terrapins provided a lesson as to why that is on Saturday.
The Terps needed roughly seven attempts to recover a wild Temple fumble in the third quarter of Saturday’s game, finally — and luckily — grabbing the ball roughly 15 yards further back from where it originally took place.

You can almost hear the Maryland fans screaming “just fall on it” at their televisions. The Terps were lucky to get that one.
In fairness, one could see why the Maryland players wanted to pick the ball up at first. Temple players were late in getting there, the Terps would have had room to run, and there could have been blockers in the area. After the second or third failed attempt, though, it was probably time to cut their losses and just take possession.
