Dylan Raiola’s departure left a big hole at the quarterback position for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

However, not even one week after the transfer portal opened, head coach Matt Rhule has found a capable replacement. UNLV QB Anthony Colandrea committed to Nebraska on Tuesday after visiting the program, via a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Missouri transfer QB Beau Pribula was also on a visit to Nebraska on Tuesday, but so far, Colandrea has committed to the Cornhuskers.

Nebraska seemed set to land Notre Dame transfer QB Kenny Minchey, but he flipped and decided to commit to Kentucky in a stunning twist on Monday.

So, Rhule and Nebraska wasted no time in bringing in other signal-callers and found a new home for Colandrea. The former UNLV QB played two seasons at Virginia but had a total of 26 touchdowns and 20 interceptions before transferring to Las Vegas.

In his only season with the Rebels, Colandrea threw for 3,459 yards with 23 touchdowns and nine interceptions, posting career-highs in yards and TDs while leading UNLV to a 10-4 overall record. He also had 10 rushing scores and 649 yards on the ground as he found some momentum under head coach Dan Mullen.

Raiola’s leaving Nebraska was a tough blow for the program, but the Cornhuskers made an aggressive pursuit in hopes of finding a replacement for the former five-star recruit. Now, the hope is that Colandrea can come into Lincoln and bring some renewed energy to the program.
