College football is almost as much about the swag as it is about winning games. With all the new uniforms, alternate jerseys and futuristic helmets that are released every season, it seems like the way a player looks is just as important as how he performs. As you can see from the photo above that Ryan Grooms of the Notre Dame Football Equipment Room tweeted on Tuesday, the Fightin’ Irish have decided to decorate their gloves with their famous “Play like a champion today” slogan for the upcoming season.
The font is the same as the sign the Notre Dame players hit every time they take the field on their way out of the locker room. While some will certainly say it’s cheesy, we’ve seen much worse in terms of accessories and a number of uniform changes that certainly weren’t needed. If nothing else, Notre Dame’s gloves at least represent a school tradition. In this day and age, that has to count for something.
