If the Notre Dame Fighting Irish want to fulfill their playoff ambitions, they’re going to have to do it without a key piece of their offensive line.
Alex Bars, a senior captain, is out for the season after tearing both his ACL and MCL against Stanford, according to head coach Brian Kelly.
Brian Kelly announces Alex Bars suffered a ACL/MCL injury. Lost for the season. Kelly calls it “devastating” for the locker room.

Bars suffered a season-ending ankle injury in October 2015 and missed the bulk of that season, but this is even rougher. Not only was Bars a potential NFL prospect, but this is a Notre Dame team that looks like it could contend for the playoff. The only good news is that the Irish have a lot of depth on the offensive line, but this is still a major blow to the team.
