Ohio State using ‘NCAA Football 14’ video game simulations to introduce recruits

Ohio State announced the addition of several new commits from the Class of 2019 on Wednesday, and the school’s media team came up with a pretty cool idea for welcoming the players to the program.

For each new signee, Ohio State created simulations using gameplay from the incredibly popular EA Sports “NCAA Football 14” video game. The game was the last of its kind that was produced before legal issues regarding the usage of college athletes’ likenesses in video games reached a boiling point, and many gamers still play it to this day.

For the simulations, Ohio State showed the new Buckeyes making plays against rival Michigan. Here’s a sampling:

The players must love seeing that. As of now, it doesn’t appear that Urban Meyer’s retirement or the scandal surrounding his final year at Ohio State has had a major impact on the Buckeyes with recruiting. One of their top offensive recruits already said he is sticking with his commitment, and Ohio State is still adding a lot of top talent.
