Oklahoma given controversial game-sealing first down after review
Oklahoma escaped with a 28-24 victory over TCU on Saturday thanks in part to a controversial first down late in the game.
The Sooners were leading by four and looking to run out the clock with 1:25 left. Jalen Hurts kept the ball on a 3rd-and-1 run and seemed to get stopped short of the 42. The ruling on the field was a first down, which stood after a review, even though Hurts appeared to be stopped short.

Rather than face a 4th-and-1 decision and have to potentially punt the ball away, Oklahoma got a fresh set of downs and was able to run out the clock on the win.
Oklahoma is now 10-1 with a loss at Kansas State marking their only defeat. They visit Oklahoma State next weekend and then will rematch with Baylor in the Big 12 Championship Game. They’re hoping to sneak into the College Football Playoff.
