Everyone made the same joke about Oregon’s wild onside kick
Oregon’s special teams unit may have recently binge-watched a few Adam Sandler movies ahead of the team’s marquee matchup against Ohio State.
No. 3 Oregon trailed No. 2 Ohio State 14-12 early in the second quarter at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Ore.
After failing to convert on a two-point attempt, Oregon decided to keep its risk level on high by going for an onside kick. Kicker Andrew Boyle smashed the ball off of an Ohio State player and the Ducks were able to recover.
WOOOOOO, Oregon goes with the "kick the ball directly off an opposing player" onside kick and succeeds pic.twitter.com/GvBubk8F7K

“Hey what if the kicker just kicked it really hard at the guy in front of him?”
We’ve all thought it and OREGON DID IT. pic.twitter.com/W1DBOYQszv

Several fans pointed out that Oregon seemed to mimic the 1998 classic “Waterboy” when the fictional SCLSU Mud Dogs pulled off the same stunt.

The unorthodox kickoff arguably wasn’t even the wackiest play from Oregon’s special teams unit in the first half alone.
A botched snap during the Ducks’ extra point attempt in the first quarter led to a disastrous forward pass from Oregon’s holder that looked straight out of “The Longest Yard.”
