‘QB1’ star Lance LeGendre sees action in Maryland blowout win

Lance LeGendre

Maryland put such a whooping on Howard during their season opener on Saturday that even their fourth-string quarterback got in the game.

Lance LeGendre, one of the stars of season 3 of “QB1: Beyond the Lights” on Netflix, got to play in his first career game.

Once Maryland got out to a 35-0 lead on Howard early in the game, the Terrapins went from starter Josh Jackson to backup quarterback Tyrell Pigrome. Piggy led the team for several series. Then in the second half, Tyler DeSue saw some action. The team’s final drive was quarterbacked by LeGendre, a freshman.

Maryland was up so big in the game that LeGendre did not attempt any passes. He rushed twice for 30 yards.

LeGendre was one of the three high school quarterbacks featured on “QB1,” joining Oklahoma Sooners QB Spencer Rattler and Kentucky QB Nic Scalzo. Rattler is third on Oklahoma’s depth chart and seems destined to redshirt the season, while Scalzo suffered a season-ending knee injury last month.

“QB1” has brought many of the star quarterbacks of the college game some early attention. Georgia Bulldogs star Jake Fromm was featured in season 1, along with former Buckeye and current Miami Hurricane Tate Martell. Justin Fields, who transferred from Georgia to Ohio State and is now the Buckeyes’ starter, was featured in season 2.

LeGendre was a four-star recruit out of Warren Easton High School in New Orleans. He is unlikely to see much more action this season.
