Tom Herman is headed to Texas, as the two sides agreed to a deal.
News was reported early Saturday:
I have confirmed, per a source close to the situation, that Texas will hire Houston coach Tom Herman. Release expected later today.

Pat Forde of Yahoo! Sports previously cited one source close to Herman that called Texas “his No. 1 choice.”
As was reported by Ross Dellenger the Advocate, Herman was leaning toward Texas even before LSU formally decided to remove the interim tag from Ed Orgeron.
#LSU leaders worked thru the night.
Tom Herman called at 5 a.m. leaning #Texas. Tigers made their decision: O.

The Herman hire should energize the boosters, who have wanted this for a while. It’s not unfamiliar territory for the coach, as he was a graduate assistant for Texas from 1999-2000.
