Texas says QB Sam Ehlinger progressing ‘on schedule’

Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger is progressing “on schedule” according to his head coach.

Ehlinger exited Texas’ game against Baylor last weekend on the team’s first possession with a shoulder injury, which was later reported to be a sprained A/C joint. The plan was for Ehlinger to rest and rehab this week with Texas on a bye, and then they would see whether the sophomore would be available for the team’s game against Oklahoma State.

Longhorns head coach Tom Herman said that things are progressing well for Ehlinger so far.

Tom Herman on QB Sam Ehlinger: "Sam is progressing. Pretty much right on schedule. Three treatments a day. Pain is way down. Range of motion is up."

Texas has won six in a row since their loss to Maryland in the season opener. Ehlinger is a big reason why. He has passed for 1,534 yards, 11 touchdowns and two interceptions this season, while rushing for six scores.

Texas would love to have Ehlinger available against the Cowboys, but they will also prepare for backup Shane Buechele to make the start in case Ehlinger is unable to play.
