UCLA unveils new all-black uniforms
When we think of the colors associated with UCLA football, light blue and gold come to mind. That thought will be temporarily erased on Nov. 15 when the Bruins take on Washington.
On Tuesday, UCLA unveiled its new black alternate uniforms. They are incredibly different from the vintage look we are used to, but something about them is appealing to me. We’ll have to check in with a UCLA alumnus and ask LB what he thinks of the black and gold helmets, but as someone who never proudly wore Bruins colors I think they are pretty cool looking. The new look for UCLA is part of adidas’ ongoing effort to make UCLA, their flagship West Coast program, similar to what Oregon is for Nike. Adidas has a big investment in the school and wants to see the athletic programs perform well to bring a lot of attention to the brand.
Remember, this opinion is coming from a guy whose alma mater is wearing these incredibly creepy helmets this year, so I’m probably just easy to please. What do you think?
