UCLA DC Lou Spanos rides imaginary horse on sidelines
UCLA joined the college football playcard movement this week for its game against Oregon State, but they didn’t tell us that meant coaches were also going to be pantomiming signs from the sidelines.
Take for instance what first-year defensive coordinator Lou Spanos did on the sidelines in the second quarter. There he is hopping up and down, spanking his imaginary horse like a jockey. Was he doing Happy Gilmore’s bull dance? His own version of Gangnam Style? Was he signaling in the old “ride the quarterback like a horse” play?
The answer is only known by those involved with the UCLA program, but I’d sure like to find out what that was all about.
