Urban Meyer still likes to take potshots at his old rivals, including the Florida State Seminoles.

Meyer did not miss his chance to take a shot at the Seminoles on the most recent episode of his “Triple Option” podcast, all while praising his former team, the Florida Gators. Meyer was pointing out that the Gators had not quit on coach Billy Napier despite a number of rough spots, and suggested the same has not happened with Florida State under Mike Norvell.

“I’m a fan of Coach Napier, and here’s why. I don’t know him. I met him once or twice. They’ve been, obviously, really struggling,” Meyer said. “But the one thing they have not done, like the team in Tallahassee, is quit. They continue to fight.”

The Gators are still just 5-5, and Meyer has admitted that he is troubled by the state of the program. Clearly, he can take some solace in the fact that the 1-9 Seminoles are in a much worse spot right now.

Meyer has made clear that he will never return to Florida in any sort of coaching role. He is still sympathetic to them, though, and Gator fans will love the shot at their in-state rivals.
