Utah State dealing with rare coaching situation in New Mexico Bowl
The Utah State Aggies will face off against the North Texas Mean Green in the New Mexico Bowl on Saturday, but they’ll do so with a very limited coaching staff on hand.
The Aggies are still dealing with the fact that coach Matt Wells was hired by Texas Tech, taking much of his staff with him. Wells and his assistants didn’t bother to hang around for the bowl games, leaving Utah State with just four coaches to chart a gameplan against North Texas.
Since Matt Wells was hired by Texas Tech and is taking most of his staff with him to Lubbock, only four Utah State coaches are on hand today for the New Mexico Bowl.

The Aggies have hired Gary Andersen as their new head coach, but he’s not a factor in this game, with defensive coordinator Frank Maile serving as interim coach for the bowl. It’s fair to say he and his staff might be at a bit of a disadvantage in this one.
