Texas Tech moved quickly in hiring its next head football coach.
Less than five days after firing Kliff Kingsbury, the Red Raiders appear to have found a new football coach. Multiple reports say that Matt Wells has accepted the job.
Two sources have confirmed to me that Utah State coach Matt Wells has agreed to become the next Texas Tech head football coach.

Wells is in his sixth season at Utah State and has the Aggies 10-2. Wells took over Utah State from Gary Andersen, who went to Wisconsin and then became a huge bust at Oregon State.
Wells, a former Utah State quarterback, has been at Utah State since 2011. Competing in the Big 12 will be a major step up and tough test for him.
