There is never a bad time to accessorize when you’re JC Coleman.
The Virginia Tech senior running back went viral during Monday’s season opener against Ohio State after he was spotted wearing a gold watch during the actual game.
Given the sense of humor Coleman’s displayed in the past, we’re not in the least bit surprised that he keeps it loose on the field. But wearing the watch is actually a symbolic gesture for Coleman, similar to the way players write messages to themselves on wristbands or shoes.
A Washington Post article last year explained that Coleman wears the watch as a constant reminder that after battling injuries and other obstacles in his career, “it’s my time.”
Here I was hoping that he had just picked up an endorsement deal under the table. Maybe it’s not too late!
