The Wisconsin Badgers on Sunday scored a major recruiting win by securing the commitment of one of the top quarterbacks in the class of 2025.
Quarterback Carter Smith, the No. 3-ranked dual threat quarterback in the 2025 class according to Rivals, committed to the Badgers on Sunday. Smith made the announcement on social media.

Smith had previously been committed to the Michigan Wolverines in November 2023. He reopened his recruitment last month amid Michigan’s high-profile pursuit of Bryce Underwood, which was ultimately successful. Upon decommitting, the quarterback out of Bishop Verot High School in Fort Myers also received interest from the likes of Penn State, Clemson, and Illinois, according to Eli Lederman of ESPN. Wisconsin always appeared to be in the lead, as they were the only school to bring him in for an official visit after his decommitment.
The Badgers currently sit at 5-6 and have to beat Minnesota in their season finale to secure bowl eligibility. Their offense has struggled this season to the point that it cost one of their coaches his job. Perhaps Smith can start to help in that department when he arrives on campus for the 2025 campaign.
