Report: 49ers RB Tevin Coleman could be trade candidate
The San Francisco 49ers have a crowded running back situation, which could lead Tevin Coleman to be traded, according to a report.
SI’s Albert Breer said in a column published on Monday that Coleman was mentioned to him as a player who could be traded.
The 49ers have Raheem Mostert, Matt Breida, Jerick McKinnon and Jeff Wilson on the roster, in addition to Coleman. Mostert was an absolute beast in the playoffs last season and is probably someone they would like to keep. Breida and McKinnon are returning from injuries, but Breida is a speedster and McKinnon already agreed to a pay cut for less than $1 million.
Coleman, 27, is set to make just under $5 million and is an expensive but unnecessary option in a loaded position group.
Coleman rushed for 544 yards and six touchdowns in 14 games last season.
