Aaron Rodgers has chance to make history against Packers

Aaron Rodgers has a chance to join some truly elite company when he faces the Green Bay Packers this season for the first time in his career.

Rodgers agreed to a deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers this week and will enter the 2025 season as their starting quarterback. The Steelers host the Packers in Week 8, and Rodgers’ former team is the only one he has not beaten.

As ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted, Rodgers can become just the fifth quarterback in NFL history to beat all 32 teams if he starts against Green Bay on Oct. 26. The only four quarterbacks to accomplish that feat are Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Brett Favre.

Rodgers never faced the Packers when he was with the New York Jets. Assuming he remains healthy and is still Pittsburgh’s starter in Week 8, he will finally get that opportunity.

The Steelers waited nearly two months to sign Rodgers, which shows that Mike Tomlin and company believe the 41-year-old is capable of leading Pittsburgh on a deep postseason run. The team went 10-7 and made the playoffs last season with Russell Wilson as their starting quarterback but chose to bring in Rodgers instead of re-signing Wilson.

Rodgers has said he is not playing for the money, and the details of his contract with the Steelers seem to support that. He believes the Steelers give him the best chance to contend for another Super Bowl. The former MVP also must love that he gets to face the Packers and the Jets, whom the Steelers play in Week 1.
