Adam Gase, Jarvis Landry at odds over past trade threats
Coach Adam Gase and wide receiver Jarvis Landry clashed while together on the Miami Dolphins, and even after parting ways the pair do not see eye-to-eye.
Gase admitted that he had inserted a slide in a presentation threatening to trade Landry to Cleveland while both were with the Dolphins. Gase, however, maintains it was meant as a joke, while Landry never saw it that way.
“One of the other guys was ‘Well, looks like everybody’s clean, no one’s getting traded,'” Gase said Friday, via Marla Ridenour of Ohio.com. ” [GM Chris] Grier and myself were kind of giving him a hard time. I slid in the power point … I think he took it a little seriously.”
Landry disagreed, indicating that Gase had made the “joke” multiple times. He also pointed out that, despite the joke excuse, Landry was ultimately dealt to the Browns after the pair fell out.
Jarvis Landry said Gase’s Cleveland comment wasn’t a one-time thing. Asked if he felt it was a joke, Landry said, “Where am I?” Said he’s glad to be here now though. #Browns

Given the Browns’ reputation as an organization, it’s easy to see how a notion of a trade to Cleveland, serious or not, would be meant as a threat. What we do know is that Landry hated his time with the Dolphins and sees the trade to the Browns as a good thing. Gase and Landry will renew hostilities when their respective teams clash Monday night.
