Adam Thielen popped up on the injury report this week after hurting his ankle in practice, and he is not a lock to play against the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday. The good news, however, is that the star wide receiver is not dealing with a ligament issue.
Thielen suffered a bad cut on his ankle during practice on Wednesday that required stitches, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. While the initial prognosis was positive, the Minnesota Vikings are still gathering information to see if Thielen will be able to play. Thielen said on “Good Morning Football” that he will do whatever it takes to get on the field.

Thielen missed several games this season due to a nagging hamstring injury, and we saw how important he is to Minnesota’s offense during their overtime win over the New Orleans Saints in the Wild Card round last weekend. He caught seven passes for 129 yards, including a 43-yard reception in OT that helped set up the game-winning touchdown.
The 49ers have one of the best defenses in football, so the Vikings will likely need all of their playmakers if they want to pull off another upset. Unless doctors tell him he can’t play, expect Thielen to suit up.
