The late Al Davis was one of the most polarizing and entertaining figures in sports history during his lengthy tenure as owner of the Oakland Raiders. That’s because he did awesome stuff like not knowing anything about Star Wars.
Amy Trask, an NFL analyst who served as the CEO of the Raiders from 1997 to 2013, shared a hilarious Davis story on “Star Wars Day” this week. If you don’t know why May 4 was deemed “Star Wars Day,” figure it out.
In honor of May 4th & Thursday. Amy to Al: I need you to greet Darth Vader. Al to Amy: who the f*** is Darth Vader. pic.twitter.com/XgKk7pLD75

We have heard several stories about how far behind the times the Raiders were during Davis’ later years (here’s a great example), so this shouldn’t exactly shock us. It is, however, awesome that someone who was alive during the 1970s and 1980s would have no idea who Darth Vader is. Classic Al.
