Aldon Smith reportedly checks into rehab after being accused of domestic violence

San Francisco Police confirmed they were searching for Aldon Smith as of Monday morning after the Oakland Raiders linebacker was named a suspect in a domestic violence incident, and the victim says she knows where to find him.

Smith’s fiancee spoke with TMZ and confirmed that she called police to report Smith had assaulted her on Saturday night, but she said she is mostly worried about Smith getting help for his substance abuse problem. The woman said Smith called her parents after the incident and they took the 28-year-old to rehab.

“I can tell you this … Aldon called my parents and asked them to take him to rehab,” she said. “He complied. They went and got him. I was not there. My family took him and had him checked in.

“I wish the best for Aldon. And I’m scared for his life with his addiction. I cannot comment on the altercation but I can tell you I love him and (am) so happy he turned to my family who considers him family and hopefully he gets the help he truly needs.”

While TMZ did not mention the woman’s name in its latest report, the gossip site revealed about a week ago that Smith had proposed to his girlfriend Shawna McKnight. She said the two had only been dating for about four months.

According to police reports from Saturday’s incident, the victim said Smith bit her wrists before climbing out a window and fleeing in his vehicle. She said he had been drinking heavily. Smith shared a cryptic photo on Instagram Sunday amid reports that police were searching for him.

Smith missed the entire 2016 and 2017 seasons while serving a suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy and a number of other things. The latest drama surrounding him makes it seem unlikely that he will ever play football again.
