Alex Smith carted off after suffering lower leg injury
Alex Smith was carted off the field after suffering a lower leg injury during the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans.
Washington had a 3rd-and-9 at the Houston 24 and Smith was tackled for a sack and loss of 14 yards. Smith was down in pain on the field, and the injury did not look good (you can see video here).
Former Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann, who notoriously suffered a horrific career-ending leg injury, said the play reminded him of what happened to him.

I feel so bad for him.

Smith was only 12/27 for 135 yards and 2 interceptions in the game, though he had Washington 6-3 on the season. Colt McCoy came on in Smith’s place and actually threw a touchdown on his first possession.
