Allen Robinson Pro Bowl snub: Jaguars player thinks it’s ‘bulls—‘

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Allen Robinson did not get the nod earlier this week when the Pro Bowl selections were announced, and the former Penn State star took it quite well.

The same cannot be said for one of his teammates.

Robinson, who is tied for the NFL lead with 13 touchdown receptions, was flattered to be named an alternate.

“Sometimes that’s how things play out,” he told Mike DiRocco of ESPN.com. “That wasn’t my main focus this year. It’s really an honor to be an alternate.”

An anonymous teammate was more frustrated about it than Robinson.

“It’s bulls—,” the Jaguars player said.

We tend to agree. Eight wide receivers — Julio Jones, Larry Fitzgerald, A.J. Green, Calvin Johnson, DeAndre Hopkins, Odell Beckham Jr., Brandon Marshall, and Antonio Brown — made the Pro Bowl. In addition to being tied for the league lead in touchdown receptions, Robinson is 7th with 1,141 yards. And if you have watched him play in any game this season, you have probably seen at least one highlight-reel catch that 90 percent of the receivers in the game couldn’t make.

In all likelihood, Robinson will end up getting to go to Hawaii. Between guys who reach the Super Bowl and others who back out because of injuries and personal reasons, there will be plenty of room for alternates.

Snubs are a part of the process, and we have seen players like this defensive lineman handle it a lot worse than Robinson. If Robinson continues to play at the level he has this season, there will be plenty of Pro Bowls in his future.
