Amari Cooper calls knee injury ‘manageable,’ hopeful he can play Sunday

Amari Cooper is battling yet another injury in a season that has been loaded with them for the star wide receiver, but he is once again expecting to play through it.

Cooper suffered a knee injury in practice last week, but he was able to play in the Dallas Cowboys’ win over the New York Giants on Monday night. He has since undergone an MRI, and he told reporters on Thursday that the injury is “manageable.” Cooper hopes to be ready to face the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night.

Cowboys WR Amari Cooper had an MRI and consult about knee injury suffered during awkward landing making catch on practice last week and was told it is “manageable.” Cooper said he intends to practice tomorrow. His status for playing #Vikings to be determined.

While it’s good news that he suffered no structural damage, it would be an understatement to say the injuries are piling up for Cooper. He battled through a foot injury during the preseason and has hurt his quad, ankle and now knee at different points during the first eight games, but he somehow keeps suiting up. Not only that, but Cooper ranks eighth in the NFL with 701 receiving yards and is tied for second with six touchdown receptions.

Cooper is in a contract year, so he is obviously motivated to put up big numbers. He’s also proving to interested teams that he is willing to play through injuries, which should boost his value. The fantastic season he is having could be the reason it is sounding more and more likely that Cooper will leave the Cowboys in free agency.
