Amari Cooper dealing with painful thigh bruise, should not be out long term

Amari Cooper exited Sunday’s game against the New York Jets early with what was described as a quad injury, but fortunately it does not sound like the Dallas Cowboys star suffered any structural damage.

Cooper has been diagnosed with a thigh bruise and is not expected to be facing a long-term absence, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports. The injury is, however, extremely painful.

#Cowboys WR Amari Cooper was diagnosed yesterday with a thigh bruise, source said, which can be horribly painful and knocked him out of the loss to the #Jets. At the least, though, there is no indication of long-term damage.

Cooper has already been battling through foot and ankle issues this season, so the pain must have been pretty significant for him to sit out the majority of what was a very close game. The Cowboys ended up falling 24-22, and they could have used Cooper with fellow starting wide receiver Randall Cobb and two starting offensive linemen also sidelined.

The Cowboys have an important divisional game against the Philadelphia Eagles next week before their Week 8 bye. With the way Cooper recently spoke about his injuries combined with the new quad issue, it would not be a surprise if Dallas held him out in Week 7 in order to give him three full weeks to heal up.
