Andy Dalton benched in favor of rookie Ryan Finley

The Cincinnati Bengals have lost more games than any team in the NFL this season, and they have decided to make a major change heading into Week 9.

Andy Dalton is being benched in favor of rookie quarterback Ryan Finley for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Sources: The #Bengals are making a QB change after the bye. Andy Dalton goes to the bench. Rookie Ryan Finley expected to start. More right now on @nflnetwork

Like the rest of the Bengals, Dalton has had a rough season. He’s completed just over 60 percent of his passes and has nine touchdowns compared to eight interceptions through eight games. It hasn’t helped that AJ Green has been out with an injured ankle and Cincinnati has a depleted roster, but the Bengals could be on the verge of a total rebuild.

Dalton is signed through 2021, but it would not be a surprise if the Bengals moved on from him after the season. There has been talk of them doing so in the past, and they used a fourth-round pick on Finley — a former NC State star — in this year’s draft.

With Dalton being sent to the bench, it’s fair to wonder if the Bengals will reconsider their stance on trading Green. We know at least three teams we would love to see the star receiver play for.
