Announcer Gus Johnson butchers Tyrann Mathieu’s name
You know Tyrann Mathieu? The athlete formerly known as the “Honey Badger”? Of course you do.
Well Gus Johnson had quite the struggle trying to pronounce his name on Sunday.
Johnson was calling the UCLA-Texas A&M game for FOX and brought up Mathieu, but stumbled over his last name as if he were unfamiliar with the player.

Given Johnson’s background announcing multiple sports, hearing him struggle with Mathieu’s name was surprising. Maybe he just got a random note card shoved in his face and it didn’t click he was talking about the Honey Badger, because there’s no doubt he knows who the Arizona Cardinals safety is.
