Antonio Cromartie explains situation with mother of first child
A representative for Antonio Cromartie shared some background regarding the situation between the NFL cornerback and the mother of his first child which helps explain the case.
On Tuesday we shared a report from TMZ Sports which said Cromartie used the money from his new contract with the Indianapolis Colts to pay back some owed child support, which also helped him avoid an arrest. According to TMZ Sports, Cromartie missed a court date last week and an arrest warrant was issued. The warrant reportedly was withdrawn after the cornerback paid off his child support debt on Tuesday.
Now a rep for Cromartie tells Larry Brown Sports that Cromartie racked up the child support debt because he disagreed with the judge’s decision.
Cromartie’s rep tells us that Cromartie and the child’s mother, Rosemita Pierre, have long had a dispute over the custody over their son. Cromartie apparently was awarded custody of their son in 2009. In Jan. 2016, a judge deemed Pierre fit to resume guardianship over their son, and she was awarded support, makeup time and custody. We’re told Cromartie did not pay the support because he was appealing the judge’s decision, but he eventually relented and paid the amount on Tuesday.
This is not the first time the matter of custody over their son has gone public. Last year the New York Post published a story about the situation, with information seemingly provided to them by Pierre.
