Report: Arthur Smith expected to be fired by Falcons
Arthur Smith’s job status has been the subject of questions over the last few weeks, and a report says his time as the Atlanta Falcons’ head coach is likely over.
Bleacher Report NFL reporter Jordan Schultz said via X on Sunday that the Falcons and Smith are “likely heading toward a breakup.”
Sources to @BleacherReport: There has been a growing belief in the last two weeks that #Falcons HC Arthur Smith was in trouble if the team collapsed.

Atlanta finished the season 7-10 after being blown out 48-17 by the New Orleans Saints in Week 18 on Sunday. The Falcons lost four of their last five games, which made Smith’s seat get hotter.
The coach likely knew his job status was in question, which is probably why he was so ticked at Dennis Allen for running up the score in Sunday’s game.
If Smith needed a strong finish in order to keep his job, he completely failed. The Falcons went in the wrong direction to close out the regular season. The team went 7-10 three years in a row under Smith.
