The Indianapolis Colts may have started a major sell-off, but that does not automatically mean Jonathan Taylor will be a part of it.
In an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that Colts ownership, led by Carlie Irsay-Gordon, does not want to trade Taylor at the moment. Schefter admits this could be a negotiating ploy, but does not envision Taylor getting moved unless the Colts significantly change their stance.
“My understanding is that the owner doesn’t want to trade Jonathan Taylor,” Schefter said. “If I had to guess today, I don’t think they will trade Jonathan Taylor. But I think there are going to be teams that are interested out there that are going to try to have conversations and make offers.”

The Colts had a very busy Tuesday by trading both Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner, offering a clear signal that they are cutting bait on potential free agents. Taylor’s contract, however, does not expire until after the 2028 season, so that incentive is not quite as strong.
As Schefter noted, there is a decently-sized set of teams eager to test the Colts’ stance on a Taylor deal.
