Baker Mayfield suffers apparent hand injury against Steelers
The Cleveland Browns are trying to keep their momentum going to make a late playoff push, but that is going to be difficult to do if Baker Mayfield is hurt.
Mayfield suffered what appeared to be an injury to his throwing hand late in the first half against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. He looked to be in considerable pain after hitting his hand off a defender’s helmet while throwing a deep pass.

Mayfield went to the locker room with the training staff. Backup quarterback Garrett Gilbert was under center for Cleveland’s last offensive series of the first half.
This isn’t the first injury Mayfield has dealt with this season, but he hasn’t missed any time. It’s always concerning when a quarterback smacks his throwing hand off a helmet, as that can lead to significant injuries that make it difficult to grip and throw the ball. Hopefully that does not turn out to be the case with Mayfield.
