Baker Mayfield claims ignorance over Hue Jackson staredown
Baker Mayfield absolutely doesn’t know what you’re talking about when you ask him about staring down his former head coach on Sunday.
CBS cameras caught Mayfield glaring in the direction of Hue Jackson on the sideline during Cleveland’s 26-18 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Jackson, serving as a Bengals assistant, had a rather chilly relationship with Mayfield as his head coach earlier this season, and the staredown was pretty obvious.
That didn’t stop Mayfield from claiming there was nothing to it after the game.
“No idea what you’re talking about,” Mayfield said when asked about the incident, via Pat McManamon of ESPN.
When informed that images of the staredown were all over social media, Mayfield was unmoved.
“That’s all right. We won,” Mayfield said. “David [Njoku] didn’t score on that play.”
Mayfield hasn’t really minced words in the past regarding how he feels about Jackson. Here, he instead let his actions do the talking, as nobody is buying his denials.
