Eric Bieniemy has received numerous interviews for head coach jobs in recent years, and the Washington Commanders offensive coordinator could get at least one more in the upcoming hiring cycle.
Josina Anderson of CBS Sports reports that the Chicago Bears are expected to have interest in Bieniemy if they move on from head coach Matt Eberflus.
I’m told the Chicago #Bears are expected to have interest in #Commanders assistant head coach/ offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, among others, with general knowledge that current HC Matt Eberflus is under evaluation with the team at 4-8, per source. pic.twitter.com/eZCMvjDbF6

Bieniemy was an assistant with the Kansas City Chiefs from 2013-2022. He served as offensive coordinator under Andy Reid for the last five of those seasons and was credited with helping to make Patrick Mahomes and company one of the best offenses in the NFL.
After last season, Bieniemy left the Chiefs to become the offensive coordinator and assistant head coach with the Washington Commanders. He supposedly had some issues with players early on, but quarterback Sam Howell has been better than expected. Washington’s offense has sputtered in recent weeks and ranks 22nd in the league with 20.1 points per game.
It remains to be seen if the 54-year-old Bieniemy will ever land a head coach gig in the NFL, but there are expected to be plenty of openings in the coming weeks.
