Report: Bill Belichick has yet to discuss his future with Patriots
It has been widely reported that Bill Belichick is likely to leave the New England Patriots once the 2023 season ends on Sunday. While that may be the case, the two sides clearly have not finalized that decision themselves.
Belichick and Patriots owner Robert Kraft have not discussed a potential coaching change at any point this season, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Many around the league still expect there to be a change, but it has not even been brought up by either side up to this point.
Ultimately, this may have more to do with the unique situation than anything else. Belichick is a legend and will not be subjected to a traditional firing. That means it will be up to Kraft and Belichick to determine how to handle his likely departure, and the two sides have not done that yet with the season still ongoing.
There are still some lingering rumors that Belichick could return, albeit with major organizational changes. This still seems unlikely, but the actual process of how the decision will be made is still up in the air.
