Sorry Bill Belichick, but you’ve been busted by a real expert.
Belichick spoke to the media on Saturday to provide an explanation for how the footballs the Patriots used during the AFC Championship Game became deflated. Belichick tried to explain the study the team did and he generally spoke in large terms, overloaded us with information, and left people thoroughly confused with the exception of one thing: his point that the Patriots did not cheat.
After Belichick’s lengthy look into physics and atmospheric sciences, some were joking that the Pats coach should be nicknamed “Bill Belichick the Science Guy.”
There is one problem: Bill Nye The Science Guy wasn’t buying Belichick’s explanation.
“I’m not too worried about Bill Belichick competing with me. What he said didn’t make any sense,” the famous TV host said in an interview with “Good Morning America.”
“Rubbing the football I don’t think can change the pressure,” Nye said. “To really change the pressure, you need one of these,” Nye said as he held up a needle to inflate a ball.”
Nye, who used to work as a mechanical engineer for Boeing before becoming a TV personality, says he will be rooting for the Seahawks in the Super Bowl. And with him weighing in on the matter, we have officially reached ridiculous levels in this controversy.
