It’s been a busy NFL season, and for kicker Matthew Wright, that is an understatement.
Wright signed a deal to join the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad on Tuesday. That makes the Bills his fourth different NFL team this season.

This is also the ninth team Wright has played for since he entered the NFL in 2021 with the Jacksonville Jaguars, so it’s been a journey for the former UCF Golden Knights star.

To add even more intrigue, Wright played for the Jaguars in 2020 and 2021, and he had all three field goals in a 9-6 win over the Bills on November 7, 2021.
Wright was the kicker with the Texans on November 9 this season, when they defeated the Jaguars, 36-29. The Bills face the Jaguars in Jacksonville on Sunday in the AFC Wild Card round.
Entering the postseason, veteran Matt Prater has gone 18-of-20 on field goals in 15 games for the Bills, and Michael Badgley has played in just two games.
However, Prater is listed as day-to-day due to a quad injury, so signing Wright gives the Bills some extra insurance as they wait to see if Prater can go or not. Wright last played in an NFL game on November 16 with the Texans and had three field goals and an extra point.
Nonetheless, the busy, travel-filled season continues for Wright.
