Bills not worried about LeSean McCoy’s workload after injury scare

LeSean McCoy has not missed many games throughout his NFL career, though he seems to always be dealing with some sort of minor injury. One way to keep him fresh would be to give him less touches, but the Buffalo Bills have no interest in taking the ball out of their best player’s hands.

When asked about McCoy getting 27 touches in a season-opening win over the New York Jets, Bills offensive coordinator Rick Dennison said he will let the backfield distribution “all work itself out.” He also said he is not going to take the ball out of McCoy’s hands.

“If I give him the ball 50 times, he’ll make 50 plays,” Dennison said, per ESPN.com’s Mike Rodak.

McCoy, who piled up 159 yards from scrimmage on Sunday, gave fans a scare when he was seen clutching his arm in the second half. He later said his wrist “went numb” when he fell on it but ended up being fine.

Again, McCoy has not missed many games during his nine-year NFL career. However, 29-year-old players are often less durable than their younger counterparts, and McCoy has a history of dealing with some pain. If the Bills want to run him into the ground, they know the risk they are taking.
