Brandon Marshall accuses Damontre Moore of throwing ‘cheap shot’
Brandon Marshall is not surprised that the New York Giants released Damontre Moore following an incident with a teammate. According to Marshall, Moore threw a “cheap shot” at him in a game earlier this season.
In an interview with WFAN on Tuesday, Marshall claimed he is still in pain from a Moore late hit during the Jets’ Week 13 overtime win over the Giants.
“Man, that guy. My chest, my ribs are still hurting because I broke a long run on the left side of the field,” Marshall said, according to Seth Walder of the New York Daily News. “I was already down, he dove right into my back. I felt like it was a cheap shot. I don’t like that guy, man.”
Marshall later backtracked a bit while speaking to reporters after practice, noting that Moore could have been “just competing” and that it is hard to know his intentions.
Moore was cut by the Giants last week after he got into a fight with defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins over a pair of headphones. Coincidentally, Jenkins is the same guy that Marshall got into it with after Jenkins apparently said something about Brandon’s wife.
Marshall joked that Jenkins has enough money to buy his own headphones.
“That’s something I probably would have done the first couple years in the league — got in a fight with a teammate for taking more than one headphone,” Marshall joked on the radio. “But Cullen Jenkins, man, listen, you make a lot of money. (He) could have gone out there and bought his own Beats By Dre. He’s trying to do his Christmas shopping in the locker room.”
Just a reminder: this is the NFL we’re talking about. Believe it or not, this isn’t your little cousin’s JV football team.
