Brett Favre would take Peyton Manning over Tom Brady

Tom-Brady-Peyton-Manning

The Peyton Manning-Tom Brady debate is one that defines the current generation of the National Football League. On one side, you have a guy who could own almost every major statistical record for a quarterback by the time his career ends. On the other, you have a three-time Super Bowl champion who is still chasing Joe Montana’s four Super Bowls and three Super Bowl MVP awards. What say you, Brett Favre?

During an interview with The Doug Gottlieb Show on Tuesday, Favre was asked if he would take Manning or Brady if he had to choose one. He gave Manning a slight advantage.

“Oh, man. Tom has gotten it done lately with a lot less, but I don’t know,” Favre said. “That’s a toss-up. I’d have to go with Peyton, I believe. But you can’t go wrong with either. (A lot of) people have written (Brady) off, and that’s foolish to write him off. I think he’s got a lot of good football left.”

We know one star cornerback who agrees with Favre, but his opinion may be a bit biased.

Brady is still 138 passing touchdowns behind Manning and isn’t going to catch him. Manning has also thrown for roughly 18,000 more yards. There’s really no debating that Manning is the greatest regular season quarterback of all time, so it all depends on how you choose to evaluate the two.

The major blemish on Manning’s career is that he has done so little with so many opportunities in the postseason. His teams have been one-and-done in the playoffs eight times. While that isn’t totally Manning’s fault, he has made some major mistakes in postseason games.

All that said, you might as well flip a coin when choosing between Manning and Brady. They’re both going to go down as two of the top-five NFL quarterbacks of all time.
