Brock Osweiler contract with Texans reportedly for $72 million
Brock Osweiler’s contract with the Houston Texans is for a lot more money than anyone probably expected he would receive in free agency.
Osweiler reportedly is going to be paid $72 million over four years, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. That averages out to $18 million per season.
The Broncos apparently were willing to come close to Houston’s offer:
Broncos offered Osweiler $16M per yr with $30M guarantee. Houston $17M- $18M per yr. Manning shadow/fresh start were factors #9news #9sports

$18 million per season is the same as Tony Romo and nearly the same as Jay Cutler. It’s also more than Andy Dalton, Carson Palmer, Alex Smith and Matt Stafford make on a per-year basis.
That is just silly money for a quarterback with seven career starts. The Houston Texans are desperate for stability at the quarterback position and really hope Osweiler will provide that. It seems at least initially that they are risking a lot of money in the hopes that he will.
