Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry on Friday addressed Nick Chubb’s future with the team.

Berry conducted an interview with 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland, Ohio, and was asked by the hosts whether he would rule out Chubb returning to the team next season.

“I wouldn’t rule anything out, but I would say that it’s probably increasingly unlikely,” Berry told “92.3 The Fan “The Ken Carman Show with Anthony Lima.” “We do have two young guys that we like. We think Jerome [Ford] plays a role. It’s basically kind of maybe seeing how the roles shake out in the running back room.

“You’re never going to rule out someone as near and dear to our heart as Nick. And I would expect him to take another step being a year removed from the knee injury. But I’d say maye a return is less likely, at least in the short term, with us right now.”

"I would says it's probably increasingly unlikely. I'd say maybe a return is less likely, at least in the short term, with us right now.""

Chubb played on a 1-year, $2.275 million contract last season. He played in 8 games last season as he returned from a serious knee injury. He rushed 102 times for 332 yards and 3 touchdowns before suffering a broken foot.

Chubb was a second-round pick by the Browns in 2018. He made the Pro Bowl in every season from 2019-2022, but his terrible knee injury suffered early in 2023 has thrown off his career. Chubb is looking to continue his NFL career and will likely have to do so with another team.
