Watch: Browns GM explains why team took risk on Antonio Callaway

The Cleveland Browns turned in one of the more controversial day three picks of the NFL Draft, trading up to pick 105 to select Florida wide receiver Antonio Callaway.

Callaway is a first-round talent who has been repeatedly plagued by poor off-field choices, including being caught up in a credit card fraud scandal at Florida and multiple instances of marijuana used that culminated in a failed drug test at the NFL Combine.

Despite all this, the Browns were willing to take a risk on him, and general manager John Dorsey said that the team is “100 percent committed” to helping Callaway in the NFL and feels that the player support system in place will do wonders for the wide receiver.

Many will be skeptical, and rightly so. The Browns have already done this once and it didn’t turn out great, although they would probably argue that all happened under the previous regime. Callaway is a huge risk, but off an 0-16 season, Cleveland is willing to take huge risks in the chance they get the reward.
