The Cleveland Browns have found their new head coach.
The Browns are hiring former Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken to replace Kevin Stefanski, according to multiple reports. Monken, 59, has never been an NFL head coach before despite decades of experience.
Monken previously served as Cleveland’s offensive coordinator in 2019. Albert Breer of The MMQB noted that he made a strong impression with Browns ownership at the time.

Monken is a fairly unexpected choice for the Browns, as they were more frequently linked to younger first-time candidates. Still, his name did resurface at the start of the week, and it was clear that Cleveland was giving him serious consideration.
The Browns are taking a chance on Monken despite his only previous head coaching experience being a three-year stint at Southern Miss. He was Georgia’s playcaller from 2020 to 2022 when they won a national title, and the hope is clearly that he can innovate the team’s offense based on his extensive experience and ideas.
