Jason McCourty is not being released by the Cleveland Browns, after all, but he is leaving the team.
Not long after a report claimed the Browns have informed McCourty he will be released, the star cornerback was traded to the New England Patriots. The two teams also swapped late-round picks in the deal.
#Browns Jason McCourty is being traded to the #Patriots along with the #Browns 2018 7th for #Patriots 2018 6th. Pats have the McCourty twins

McCourty’s twin brother Devin is a starting safety and captain for the Pats, and there has been talk for years about the two playing together. New England was one of the teams that had interest in Jason McCourty last year before he signed with the Browns.
With Malcolm Butler having signed with the Tennessee Titans, McCourty should be a good fit as a potential starting cornerback opposite Stephon Gilmore.
