Report: Cardinals have no intention of trading Josh Rosen

Josh Rosen

New Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury may be a big Kyler Murray fan, but that does not mean the franchise is going to give up on quarterback Josh Rosen after just one season.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network spoke with a Cardinals source about the rumblings that the team could shop Rosen around this offseason, and the official dismissed the idea as “ludicrous.”

The Cardinals traded up to draft Rosen last year, but they have the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft. When Kingsbury was still the coach at Texas Tech a few months ago, he had high praise for Murray and said he would take him first overall in the draft. Kingsbury may have been exaggerating with his team preparing to face the Heisman Trophy winner at the time, but he is obviously a big fan.

Murray was drafted by the Oakland A’s last year and could still play professional baseball, but it’s sounding an awful lot like he will pursue an NFL career instead. If Kingsbury really believes in him that much and the Cardinals believe in Kingsbury, they might want to explore the idea of trading Rosen. With Murray’s future still in question, there’s no need for team officials to alienate Rosen based on pure speculation.
