The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback reportedly makes roughly $4 million now, but the network is likely to give him a contract that makes him the highest-paid NFL analyst on television.
CBS could match any offer that Romo receives even if he hits the open market, but they appear determined to ensure that it doesn’t get that far. He has built up a good rapport with Jim Nantz and doesn’t seem eager to leave, but may explore his options.
Romo is probably the most well-liked commentator on TV, and his performance in Sunday’s AFC Championship only raised his profile and popularity. CBS would be wise to do everything they can to keep him.
