Chad Kelly waived by Colts after two-game suspension ends
The Indianapolis Colts had a decision to make on Chad Kelly, and they are parting ways with the quarterback for now.
Kelly completed his two-game suspension over a trespassing incident when he was a member of the Denver Broncos. The Colts, who signed Kelly to compete at their rookie camp over the offseason, had to decide whether they would add Swag to their roster. They waived the quarterback on Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.
The Colts have Jacoby Brissett as their starter and signed Brian Hoyer as their backup, which seemed to be an indication they were not planning to keep Kelly.
WISH-TV’s Charlie Clifford believes the New York Jets could have interest in claiming Kelly.
Would have concerns the #Jets will claim Chad Kelly if he isn’t put on the #Colts 53 man roster.
NYJ assistant GM Rex Hogan was in the room when Indy took a flyer on the young QB & he certainly saw the results this preseason. @WISH_TV

A former 7th-round pick out of Ole Miss, Kelly has not thrown a regular season pass in the NFL yet, though he has put up some impressive preseason stats.
