Philip Rivers has a favorite Latin phrase that he uses as his mantra both in his personal and professional lives, and it would not take you very long to figure out what that phrase is if you pay attention to his wardrobe.
Those who follow Rivers during his interactions with the media may have noticed him wearing a hat that says “Nunc Coepi” across the front. How often does Rivers wear the hat? We’ll let the Los Angeles Chargers illustrate that for you.

After searching long and hard, the folks who run the Chargers’ Twitter page finally found a photo of Rivers wearing a different hat. Of course, it still had his favorite phrase on it.

Rivers explained the impact “Nunc Coepi” had had on his life during an ESPN interview last season.
“It means ‘now I begin,'” Rivers explained. “It’s kind of that never-ending beginning. It’s beginning again and again and again. … As a quarterback, it’s play-to-play. You’re always starting again whether it’s good or bad. We use it (at home). If you asked any of my children what’s dad’s favorite phrase, they would be right on it.”
Rivers is one of the most passionate guys in football, and we saw that on full display during LA’s loss in the playoffs earlier this year. If the phrase “Nunc Coepi” has allowed him to play at such a high level for so long, the Chargers should be offering to buy him an entire closet worth of hats with those words embedded on them.
